Description

ALIGNING YOUR BUSINESS GROWTH ASPIRATIONS, CREATIVE ACTIVITIES, AND EMERGING COLLABORATIONS WITH LEGAL BEST PRACTICES

At Monmade Mixer #7 it became apparent that producers are interested in learning more about a variety of legal topics. Panelists and participants expressed some hard-fought wins and lessons learned encountered as their business growth required increasingly sophisticated contractual arrangements. To respond to this need, Monmade Mixer #8 will cover (1) developing strategies for structured relationships between business partners, and (2) using contracts to limit liability and adequately set legal and financial expectations.

Monmade Mixer #8 will feature content and guidance from two local attorneys, both with experience and interest in helping creative businesses grow. They will present some legal best practices and insights related to legal issues encountered by the producer community. Like all Monmade Mixers, we will encourage attendees to ask questions and share their personal and professional experience and perspectives. Co-presenters include:

  • Eric Davis | Managing Partner at Elliott & Davis, PC
  • Marlene van Es | Principal at Trellis Legal

Before this programming begins, two Monmade producers will participate in a 10-minute Proto-and-Tell session where they will present on emerging products and processes under development for feedback from the group. This is your monthly opportunity to help build Pittsburgh’s community of entrepreneurial creatives and to gain connections and knowledge to enhance your business practices. As always, the beer and food are on us.

Organized by

Monmade is a trade group of regional craft businesses, maker enterprises, design/build shops, and entrepreneurial artists. These producers use traditional handwork processes and manufacturing technologies to transform raw and reclaimed materials into products that have utility, durability, and good design. Monmade provides producers with better access to elements of business success: markets, capital, workforce, space, guidance, and peers. When producers access resources and opportunity, their growth expands and diversifies the regional economy. They create jobs, reactivate industrial spaces, revitalize main streets, and enhance Pittsburgh’s national reputation as a dynamic, 21st-century city.
